Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention: Turning on Data Loss Prevention analytics

Microsoft Purview now includes a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) analytics feature to help organizations analyze data protection issues and enhance data protection measures. Available from mid-October 2024, the DLP analytics feature generates recommendations on a weekly basis to assist organizations in fine-tuning data protection policies and identifying potential risks. These recommendations are accessible for four weeks and can be turned off if necessary. By enabling DLP analytics, organizations can enhance their data protection posture by identifying risks, blind spots, and policy improvement opportunities. Two new cards display prioritized recommendations, while the option to view all recommendations is also available. To enable analytics, users can click on the option to turn on analytics under the Purview data loss prevention overview section. Recommendations are generated seven days after analytics are activated, following which users can view the risk spotlighting and policy finetuning categories. A preconfigured policy or a new policy can then be created based on the recommendations generated.
