Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management: New data leaks policy template enabled by HR data connector (GA)

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is introducing a new data leaks policy template that utilizes data from an HR connector to identify potential insider risk, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. This feature is currently available in public preview for Insider Risk Management, and it will be rolled out in mid-November with expected completion by mid-December.

The data leaks policy template will start scoring user activity when an indicator related to data security risk signals is identified, and activities may include downloading files from SharePoint Online and copying data to personal cloud messaging and storage services. Before utilizing this template, an HR connector must first be configured to import HR data.

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is designed with privacy in mind, pseudonymizing users by default, and implementing role-based access controls and audit logs to ensure user-level privacy. This feature enables customers to create policies that manage security and compliance effectively.
