Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management: New data leaks policy template enabled by HR data connector (GA)

Microsoft is rolling out a new data leaks policy template, available in public preview for Insider Risk Management, which leverages data from an HR connector. This policy template enables customers to manage security and compliance by creating policies designed to identify potential insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. The HR data connector starts scoring user activity when an indicator associated with data security risk signals is identified; activities may include downloading files from SharePoint Online and copying data to personal cloud messaging and storage services. To utilize this template, a connector to import HR data must first be configured. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is designed with privacy by default, where users are pseudonymized and audit logs are in place to ensure user-level privacy. This update will begin rolling out in mid-November and is expected to be complete by mid-December.
