Viva Engage: Mute conversations in feeds and digests

Viva Engage: Mute conversations in feeds and digests

Microsoft Viva Engage is set to introduce its new Mute Conversations feature that will allow network admins and corporate communicators to remove individual conversation threads from their Home Feed and email digests. This feature is part of Engage's suite of new moderation and digital safety capabilities, following the release of View-only mode and Mute user for the network back in July-August 2024. Users can mute conversations from the web and Teams and Outlook apps, with the muted status appearing in all platforms. The feature will roll out globally from mid-November 2024 to late December 2024, and it will track feature data in the Microsoft 365 activity log, showing who muted the conversation, thread ID of the conversation, and date/time muted.

This new feature will enable network admins and corporate communicators to have more control over which threads receive distribution in the Engage Home Feed and email digests. However, muted conversations will still remain visible in communities, storylines, and through search, as users are not informed when conversations are muted.

If you're a network admin or corporate communicator looking to prepare for this rollout, no admin action is required before mid-November 2024.
