Microsoft Viva Engage: Delegates and admins can close conversations in Storylines and Communities

Microsoft Viva Engage is set to introduce a new feature that enables delegates and admins to close conversations in Storylines and Communities, enhancing psychological safety goals. The update is linked to Roadmap ID 382930 and is scheduled to launch in early April 2024. Delegates will be able to close conversations on behalf of the delegator and Global and Engage admins can close conversations on behalf of any user, with the ability to reopen conversations also included. The new capability will be available on the Viva Engage website and in Teams Viva Engage clients. Before this implementation, only post creators could close conversations in Storyline and only Community admins could close conversations on behalf of members in Communities.

This development is part of Microsoft365 Roadmap ID 382930, and the rollout will occur in early April 2024, with completion expected by mid-month. This feature will allow delegates, delegate managers, Global admins, and Engage Admins to moderate Viva Engage content and support the platform's psychological safety goals. Both Communities and Storyline will support this feature, and conversations may also be reopened. The post creator will be able to close the conversation on Storyline, while Global and Engage admins may reopen conversations in Communities and Storyline.

The new feature will be visible to users that possess delegate permissions and/or Network admin permissions to close the conversation on behalf of another user. The message on a post will indicate that the conversation has been closed as well as the name of the user that closed the conversation, and users can reopen the conversation from the three-dot menu.

Overall, this update is designed to foster constructive conversations while promoting psychological security.
