Writing Blocks in M365 Copilot
Microsoft 365 Copilot will introduce Writing blocks by mid-September 2026, enabling users to create and refine longer-form content like emails and reports within Copilot. This feature enhances productivity by providing a dedicated editing workspace without leaving Copilot. No action is required, but user communication is recommended. What and Why: We’re introducing Writing blocks in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Writing blocks provide a dedicated editing experience for content such as emails, memos, announcements, reports, and other drafts directly within Copilot. With Writing blocks, users can create, review, and iteratively refine longer-form content in a structured workspace without leaving the Copilot experience, helping improve productivity and streamline content creation workflows. Rollout Schedule: General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in mid-September 2026 and expect to complete by late September 2026. Impact on Your Organization: Who is affected: Users with access to Microsoft 365 Copilot. Platforms/Services: Microsoft 365 Copilot. What will happen: Users will be able to create and edit content in dedicated Writing blocks within Copilot. Writing blocks will support drafting and revising content such as emails, memos, announcements, reports, and other business documents. Users can iteratively refine content directly in Copilot without repeatedly generating new responses. This is a user-facing enhancement designed to make content creation and editing more efficient. Action Required / Recommendations: No action is required. We recommend informing your users about this new capability and updating any internal adoption or training materials that describe content creation workflows in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
