Follow up to MC666629: Suppressing Authenticator Notifications from Risky Sources
This post serves as a follow-up to MC666629 (August 23) which was mistakenly removed from the Message center. In this update, learn about the proposed approach to streamlining the authentication process while suppressing authenticator notifications for requests originating from unfamiliar locations. The system identifies risky sources, such as unknown IP addresses, to differentiate potential malicious attempts from legitimate ones.
From September 2023, this approach will be silently rolled out to users, suppressing notifications for both phone sign-in and multi-factor authentication (MFA) requests. However, it's important to note that this will not block any requests, and users can still retrieve genuine ones by accessing the Authenticator app at any time. There's no action required from the users.
