Reminder: Microsoft Defender for Office Empowers End Users to Report Suspicious Messages in Microsoft Teams
If you're a Microsoft for Defender Plan 2 customer or Microsoft E5/ Office E5 customers, it's important to be aware that starting in mid-July 2023, users in Microsoft Teams will be able to report internal chats, channels and meeting conversations as a security risk. This feature allows end-users to report suspicious messages, such as those that contain phishing or spam or malicious content. By default, the feature will be turned ON for all tenants by late July 2023 if the tenant hasn't opted out. The post provides instructions on how to manage messaging policy in Teams and how to ensure that the 'Monitor reported messages in Microsoft Teams' checkbox is ON so that you can check on the user-reported page what end-users are reporting from Microsoft Teams.
It's important to note that this default ON option can only be disabled through Teams messaging policies in the Teams admin center and the opt-out option ended on July 17th, 2023. The post also advises customers to provide feedback on this feature through the Message Center post using the available feedback box.
Overall, this post serves as a reminder to Microsoft Defender for Office customers to review messaging policies in Teams and ensure that they have the necessary settings in place to monitor user-reported messages to report suspicious activity effectively.
