Microsoft Teams: New ‘Sync device buttons’ setting
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new setting called 'Sync device buttons', which can be found under the devices tab in the Teams desktop client. This will enable users to disable the syncing between their device controls and Teams. The feature allows for co-existence scenarios with other HID-enabled or speech-recognition apps. By default, the setting will always be on, which means the selected peripheral will always sync with Teams Desktop client unless the user manually goes to turn it off. The release will begin rolling out in early May and is expected to be completed by mid-May. The first phase of release will support USB devices including devices that are using a USB dongle for their Bluetooth connection. Support for devices using a Native Bluetooth connection will be delivered as phase two, estimated to launch in late June 2023. To ensure that user’s peripheral devices such as headphones, audio pucks, etc. are properly controlling their Teams Audio mute state, Video mute state, and ending the call/leaving the meeting, it may be important to ask users to check this setting in case it was switched off unknowingly. There is nothing users need to do to prepare for this update.
