Microsoft Teams Rooms Companion Device Experience enhancement – Optimize video gallery for in-room participants

In a bid to enhance user experience, Microsoft Teams Rooms has rolled out a feature that optimizes the video gallery experience for in-room meeting participants when joining a meeting from a personal laptop running Microsoft Teams. Through this enhancement, the video gallery will display only remote attendees, omitting the in-room video and attendees. However, users can override this feature by pinning or spotlighting an in-room participant in the People panel. To use this feature, it is necessary to enable the Bluetooth beaconing setting on all Microsoft Teams Rooms devices and enable Bluetooth on personal laptop devices. This feature will begin rolling out in Teams desktop client from early December and will be available on all Teams desktop clients.

Overall, this enhancement offers a better in-room experience, making it easier for remote attendees to participate fully in meetings, and enabling in-room participants to connect more seamlessly with remote attendees. There is no preparation necessary to experience this enhancement, and it is expected to be rolled out completely by late December.
