Outlook: Sharing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint local files through the new Outlook for Windows

The new Outlook for Windows is making it easier for users to share Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, which are saved locally on their device, through email. Now, when users are working in these apps, Outlook will appear as a share target, streamlining the process of sending attachments. The feature is already available for general use, and it is expected to be launched globally for desktop users starting in August 2024, with a roadmap ID of 397094.
To take advantage of this convenient new feature, users can simply open the file they wish to share in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and click on the "Share" button. Outlook will appear as an option, and users can select it to open the app and attach the file to a new email message.
Overall, this new feature enhances the functionality of Microsoft's suite of productivity tools, making it easier for users to collaborate and share files across different apps and platforms.
