Microsoft Teams: Enhanced discovery of apps and one-click app installation across Teams
Microsoft is introducing an update to improve Teams app discovery by enabling one-click installation and use of previously utilized apps across the platform. This feature, associated with Roadmap ID 397089, will be rolled out from early October 2024, with completion expected by late October 2024. Users must check app permission policies to ensure they can benefit from this feature. The enhanced app discovery for Microsoft Teams will enable users to easily discover and re-use apps they have already used in group chats, channels, and meetings, allowing them to consent to using the application universally within Teams by clicking once.
Once this update is in effect, finding and using apps previously utilized in Teams will become much easier since users will find these applications listed at the top of teams menu. Additionally, the update permits users to discover apps they previously used in a group experience but did not install. If users click on such an app, it will automatically install after which it becomes available for use everywhere.
Admins should ensure that their tenant's app permission policies are configured to allow users to add and use apps in group experiences. However, no extra admin configuration is required for this specific feature. The rollout will happen automatically by the specified date and requires no admin action before the rollout.
Overall, this feature promises to revolutionize app discovery in the Teams platform, making it easier to use and communicate with others in groups.
