Microsoft Teams: Simplified App Update Experience

Microsoft Teams has introduced a simplified app update experience that automatically updates an app in real-time everywhere it is installed for a user. With this new feature, Microsoft Teams maintains an index of all apps, including corresponding versions that a user has consented to. Once a user updates the app in any one context, the updated version will be available in all other installed contexts without any additional user action. The roll-out for this upgrade is expected to start in early March and be completed by late March for GA users, and in mid-March to be completed by early April for GCC, GCC-H, DoD users. Apps that require new permissions, however, must be manually updated after which they will be updated everywhere that matches the permission. Auto-updates are based on admin policies defined by the user. The app details page will have a What's New tab that highlights any changes to the app, including required updates to permissions, for apps that require users to accept new permissions.
