Microsoft Teams: Streamlined process for installing Teams apps
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new, streamlined installation process for apps to improve the user experience. This update aims to reduce complexity and provide a more intuitive process from app discovery to use, resulting in improved user engagement and reduced friction. The update will roll out automatically, without affecting existing app management practices. It is set to begin rolling out in early September 2024 for Targeted Release, with mid-September for General Availability worldwide and late October for GCC.
Before this update, installing apps in Teams was a more complicated and less intuitive process, with more steps involved. However, after the rollout, adding apps will become quicker and easier with fewer steps. This new process aims to provide users with a more streamlined approach to apps for personal and professional use.
The new process will include a single "Add" or "Open" button, eliminating any confusion in adding an app from the Apps tab on Teams for chats, channels, and meetings. Additionally, users will be able to search for app integration directly in chats, channels, or meetings and recommendations based on recent interactions will be provided.
Overall, this update to Microsoft Teams will enhance the user experience, providing a more intuitive process from app discovery to use, reducing friction and improving user engagement while not affecting existing app management practices. The rollout is set to begin in early September 2024 for Targeted Release.
