Support for the Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile UWP applications will end on October 14, 2025
Microsoft has recently announced that support for Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications will come to an end on October 14, 2025. After this date, no further updates, security fixes, or technical support will be available for these applications. It is suggested that if your organization is currently using these applications on Microsoft Windows-based devices, they are removed before the end of support date to avoid any potential security risks or other issues that might arise from using unsupported software.
If you are currently using Microsoft Intune, you can run a report to identify devices running these applications. The retirement of these applications will not only affect individual users but also could impact the software environment of organizations, so it is recommended to find alternative applications to replace them. There are a variety of other Microsoft 365-supported mobile and desktop applications that can be used, such as Microsoft 365 mobile app for iOS or Android phones and tablet devices, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on the web, or desktop versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a Microsoft 365 plan.
If you are using Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, or PowerPoint Mobile UWP applications and are concerned about the impact that the end of support may have on your software environment, it is advised to plan ahead and make the necessary changes before the deadline to avoid any disruptions.
