Microsoft Purview compliance portal: General availability of Credential SITs

The Microsoft Purview compliance portal has announced the general availability of a new update, Credential SITs, that includes 42 new Sensitive Information Types (SITs) to enable organizations to detect, classify, and protect credentials found in documents across their data landscape. With Credential SITs, organizations can detect credential patterns, such as access keys, tokens, and general passwords both individually and holistically, thereby identifying activity involving the use of credential data within their environment. These new SITs can be added to solutions like auto-labeling and DLP policies for quick and accurate identification and classification of complex digital authentication credentials, such as user credentials and default passwords. The update also includes new SITs for credentials used to access cloud development resources from services like Amazon, GitHub, Slack, Google, etc. The rollout is expected to begin in mid-October and be completed by mid-November. Currently, only server-side auto-labeling policy authoring with Credential SITs is supported.

This update serves as a powerful tool for organizations to develop secure digital authentication credentials and maintain protection against security threats. By utilizing this update, organizations can safeguard their digital data and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information.
