Voicemail: Automatic activation of out of office (OOF) greetings based on OOF Calendar events to be retired
Microsoft is retiring the voicemail feature that automatically activates an out-of-office (OOF) greeting based on an OOF event in the Outlook calendar. This decision is driven by Microsoft's commitment to reduce costs and strengthen customer data protection. Microsoft will be rolling out this change, which will affect the end-users, beginning in early June 2024, and is expected to be completed by early August 2024.
After the change, end-users will have two options to manage their OOF greetings: 'All the time' and 'When I have an Outlook auto-reply.' Previously, end-users had three options, including 'When I have an Out of Office calendar event (to be retired).' End-users are advised to notify all users regarding this change.
If your organization has a small number of users who have set custom out-of-office greetings in voicemail, you are required to notify all users that the automatic activation of OOF greetings based on Outlook calendar events will be retired. This change is critical to safeguard customer data and mitigate environmental impact.
