New cmdlet for Content Explorer

New cmdlet for Content Explorer

Microsoft has announced a new cmdlet called Export-ContentExplorerData, which will become available in General Availability. This feature is set to roll out in late December 2023 and is expected to be completed by early January 2024, and will allow admins to export all rows of data for the content scanned and shown on Content Explorer through the Security and Compliance PowerShell module. The current Content Explorer export feature only allows export of data only after drilling down to a specific location. This new cmdlet will allow for the export of the entire content explorer data set, making it easier for users to analyze the data. There are no additional settings needed for this feature. However, it may be important to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.

This new cmdlet is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 117546. If you are a Microsoft 365 admin looking to stay on top of the latest updates and features, make sure to keep an eye on M365 Admin for all the latest news and updates.
