Microsoft Defender for Identity: New recommendations for Microsoft Secure Score

Microsoft Defender for Identity has announced new recommendations to enhance security posture accuracy in Microsoft Secure Score. These recommendations specifically target Azure SSO account configurations and actions for Microsoft Entra Connect accounts. The rollout, starting mid-August 2024 and completing by mid-September 2024, will update the score automatically, with no admin action required before the rollout.

The new Microsoft Defender for Identity recommendations will be added to Microsoft Secure Score improvement actions, focusing on identity-related security posture reports and hybrid identities. They will be available by default only to customers who have installed an MDI sensor on Entra Connect server. Customers are advised to review the improvement actions listed in Microsoft Secure Score, as suggested security improvement actions will continue to be added on an ongoing basis.

Microsoft Defender XDR is expected to receive these updates soon. Overall, these recommendations will ensure a more accurate representation of security posture, further strengthening the security of user accounts and resources.
