Microsoft Teams: BYOD mode will activate cameras on meeting room audio devices

Microsoft Teams is set to roll out an update where BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mode will activate the cameras on audio devices with video components during meetings. This feature will apply to Teams for Windows and Mac desktops and is expected to begin rolling out in mid-January 2025 and complete by early February 2025. This update will automatically activate the video component of composite audio-video peripherals as the selected camera in Teams when a user selects an audio peripheral in the room audio option on the meeting prejoin screen. Organizations should inform users of the change and review peripheral inventory to ensure that users are aware that the room's camera will be used if there is one. This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 469496.

Overall, this update serves as a reminder for organizations to regularly review Teams updates and communicate any relevant changes to their users to ensure their Teams experience runs smoothly. This update originally appeared on M365 Admin.
