Microsoft Teams: Auto-detect and pre-select room audio in BYOD meeting rooms

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature that will auto-detect room audio when a laptop is connected to a room's shared peripheral. This means the suggested or selected audio option on the pre-join screen will be selected for the users to help streamline entry in bring your own device (BYOD) meeting rooms. This new feature will make it easier and more efficient for users to join meetings on Teams, especially in BYOD meeting rooms. If the room's audio peripherals are recognized as shared or on Microsoft's BYOD peripherals list, in that case, the room audio option will be suggested for the users. After the peripheral is connected to a laptop and the user joins a meeting, the user will automatically transition to the room's audio option, provided the room's audio peripherals match the shared peripheral or are associated with a particular room.
Targeted release for this feature is October 2024, and no admin action is required before that. This update will apply to Teams on Windows desktops and Mac desktops. This feature will simplify joining BYOD meeting rooms on Teams.
