Moving file and conversation settings to the Viva Engage admin center
Microsoft Viva is making changes to file and conversation settings, transferring them from the Yammer admin center to the Viva Engage admin center for improved performance and efficiency. The rollout is scheduled to begin in late October 2024 with a completion date of mid-November 2024. This update allows admins to manage file upload permissions, GIFs, URL metadata, message translation, and private messages. There is no action required before the rollout.
This transition will be seamless without any expected downtime or disruption, and all existing preferences and settings within your organization will remain in place. Global admin, Engage admin (Yammer AAD), and Yammer network admin roles will be able to manage file upload preferences, GIFs, URL metadata, and notifications in the Viva Engage admin center. The toggle options for file upload permissions will include allowing files of any format, allowing only image or video file uploads, or not allowing any file uploads to conversations. Tenor GIFs will be enabled by default, and admins can enable or disable fetching metadata for URLs posted in conversations. Message translation features will also be available to admins.
Overall, these changes aim to streamline and enhance the functionality of Viva Engage admin center, providing a new, more efficient platform for managing file and conversation settings.
