Microsoft Teams: Block Anonymous Users’ Meeting Chat Read Access in Addition to Current Write Access

Microsoft Teams has introduced a new feature that allows IT admins to block anonymous users from accessing the chat in internally hosted meetings by disabling their read access, in addition to their existing disabled write access. This feature is expected to arrive across Microsoft Teams Desktop, Mobile, and Web and offers an additional way for tenants to manage external users' chat access in meetings hosted by internal users. Admins can activate this setting for internal users via the Teams Admin Center or PowerShell, and anonymous participants joining meetings won't have chat access on any Teams platforms. Meeting participants with chat access will be notified about this new setting's potential impact on chat access with external users.
If your organization uses Microsoft Teams, you may want to notify your users about this new setting and its potential effects on participants' chat access in meetings with external users. For more information, check out the Microsoft documentation available on this feature.
