Microsoft Forms | Data sync to Microsoft Excel: Support for migrating from the older solution to the new solution
If you use Microsoft Forms, it's important to know that a new data sync to Excel for the web will replace the older version by October 20, 2024. Migrating to the new solution is mandatory if you want to continue receiving data updates after the retirement of the older version.
As announced by Microsoft, the company is introducing a new data sync solution that replaces the older version with a higher degree of reliability. The newer version of live data sync to Excel is expected to roll out in July 2024 and will be available worldwide. With the rollout, Forms users will be able to sync data from Forms to Excel with more advanced features.
Users who rely on the older version will need to manually update their data sync to the new solution after October 20, 2024, to ensure that their existing Excel files continue to receive automatic data updates. To help users migrate from the older to the new solution, support for migration will roll out starting late August 2024 and is expected to complete by early September 2024.
For users with Forms created from Microsoft OneDrive and Excel for the web Group forms created with SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365 groups, Microsoft will provide support to migrate to the new solution. Users who own Forms with the older version of the data sync will receive notifications through email, Forms, and Excel for the web.
These users will be able to recreate the data sync with the new solution, and a new worksheet will be created in the same workbook as the older data sync.
For a seamless transition and uninterrupted data syncing, make sure to update to the new data sync solution before October 20, 2024.
