Microsoft Forms now supports live data sync to Excel – Preview

Microsoft Forms has introduced a new feature that enables the syncing of responses directly into an Excel file. The feature allows for the automatic update of data responses so that users can analyze their data whilst also retaining the ability to collaborate with peers. A table in the Excel workbook is automatically created as a result of the feature, and the data can be manipulated using a range of Excel functions. The syncing of new responses takes place automatically in Excel for the web whilst the workbook is open, and Excel co-authors receive auto-synced responses as well. Although the live data sync can only be triggered in Excel for the web. Permissions for the synced Excel workbook and the form/quiz responses are independent, and the form author must grant permissions separately. This feature will replace the older types of forms that used live data sync to Excel.
With this new feature, users can extract insights from observational data and make informed decisions to aid in their data-driven goals. The new data sync solution introduced with this feature is much faster and reliable, making the process faster and much more efficient than before. As of late January 2024, the rollout for the standard release with Preview label began, and completion is expected by early March 2024.
