Microsoft Teams admin center: Admins can disable the ability to send messages in meeting chat before and after a meeting

Microsoft Teams admin center: Admins can disable the ability to send messages in meeting chat before and after a meeting

The Microsoft Teams admin center is providing new options for admins to disable meeting chat before and after meetings. These options will be available between December 2024 and February 2025. Admins can configure the settings, and the two new options - "In-meeting only for everyone" and "In-meeting only except anonymous users" - will be found in the Teams admin center under Meetings, Meeting policies, Meeting engagement, and Meeting chat. These options can be used to disable the ability of meeting participants to send messages in the meeting chat before or after the meeting. However, they can read past chat history and send messages only during the meeting. Admins are advised to review configurations and inform users accordingly. This update applies to Teams for Windows desktops and Mac desktops, Teams on the web, and Teams for iOS/Android.
