Microsoft Copilot in Teams will use the meeting chat as a data source
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature called Copilot, which will use meeting chat as a data source to provide meeting invitees with answers based on chat and transcript data. The feature will be available for meetings 24 hours before and after and will require a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. The rollout for the feature is set to begin in mid-August 2024 for Targeted Release and late August for General Availability, with no admin action required for the update. Copilot will access the chat data for 24 hours before, during, and after a meeting to provide relevant responses. With this new feature, Copilot will now analyze both chat and transcript data, providing more comprehensive feedback. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 383019.
Copilot in Teams is on by default and accessible to all Copilot for Microsoft 365 licensed users. To take advantage of this feature, a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license is required. Before rollout, users will receive a prompt in the form of a Highlights from meeting chat message to inform them that Copilot can now answer questions using both chat and transcript data. The rollout will occur automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout. Users may want to notify their organization's users about the change and update any relevant documentation. For more information, visit the Microsoft website.
