Business glossary integrated in Azure Purview data catalog search
In the Azure Purview data catalog, the business glossary provides definitions, synonyms, and acronyms to different terms used throughout an organization. Glossary terms can be tagged to assets and assist end users in understanding how and why the data is used. We are proud to announce that glossary terms are now integrated into the data catalog search experience.
As you would do with data assets, search keywords to match to different attributes of glossary terms such as acronyms, data stewards, and custom attributes associated with the term template.
Selecting a glossary term will take you to the term detail page where you can learn more about the term or take actions on it.
Select the Glossary terms object type filter to only see glossary terms in your search results. You will then see glossary-specific filters such as Term status and Term template.
Glossary terms are also integrated with Azure Purview search syntax. Searching "term: <keyword>" will now scope your search to both glossary terms assigned to an asset and to searches within glossary terms.
For more information on how to search the Azure Purview data catalog, see our product documentation.
