Outlook for iOS to match Android Authenticator Auto Open Behavior

In a bid to improve user experience, Outlook for iOS will soon update its authentication to mirror Android's auto-open behavior for the Authenticator app. This means that users no longer have to manually initiate the process but rather, the app will automatically open the Authenticator app. The update, which begins in late November 2024, will eliminate the need for users to tap the "Open Authenticator" button to initiate the authentication flow. The rollout is expected to be completed by mid-December 2024, and organizations that use Outlook for iOS will be affected. However, no action is required from users or admins to implement this change.
To determine how many users are currently using Outlook for iOS, admins can view report instructions on Microsoft 365 Reports in the admin center - Email apps usage. Notably, when this change takes effect, users and admins will not need to do anything to leverage this new behavior. For information about device enrollment with Intune for iOS, admins can check the Overview of Apple device enrollment in Microsoft Intune.
