Power Platform – Include or exclude direct report’s records by disabled status in manager view of hierarchy security

Microsoft recently announced a new update where you can include or exclude direct reports' records by disabled status in the manager view of hierarchy security in Power Platform. With this update, users can now enable the settings to include or exclude direct report's records with a disabled status. Starting from February 23, 2024, this update will be publicly available for use in all Dataverse environments.

For environments in which hierarchy security was enabled after January 31, 2024, the records for direct reports with a disabled status will be included by default. However, records for direct reports in a disabled state aren't included in the manager's view for other environments. If you want to include records for direct reports with a disabled status in the manager view, you need to install the OrganizationSettingsEditor tool, update the AuthorizationEnableHSMForDisabledUsers setting to true, disable the Hierarchy modeling, and re-enable it again.

On the other hand, if you want to exclude records for direct reports with a disabled status in the manager view, you have to install the OrganizationSettingsEditor tool, update the AuthorizationEnableHSMForDisabledUsers setting to false, disable the Hierarchy modeling, and re-enable it again. For more information, refer to the documentation on Dataverse hierarchy security.
