End of Support for Cortana on Microsoft Teams Room on Windows and Teams Displays (Lenovo ThinkSmart View)
Microsoft is set to end support for Cortana voice assistance on all Microsoft Teams Room on Windows (MTR-W) devices and Teams Displays, including Lenovo ThinkSmart View, from the end of September 2023. This will include both the push-to-talk capability and wakeword detection. Although Cortana was used to complete tasks such as joining and starting meetings, adding names and numbers, and calling, these tasks can still be completed manually via device interface. The change will impact the way users engage with the devices.
Microsoft is working towards new ways to use AI to save time by focusing on users' needs. Rooms set up with Teams certified Intelligent Speakers can continue to use the device for meeting audio and intelligent transcription with speaker attribution. Affected users should notify others and update any relevant documentation and training materials ahead of time.
