New Pay-as-you-go billing model for Agents in SharePoint

New Pay-as-you-go billing model for Agents in SharePoint

A pay-as-you-go billing model for agents is set to launch in SharePoint in mid-January 2025. This payment model will allow users to access Agents using an Azure subscription and resource group, while licensed users will be expected to continue according to the terms of their licenses. To set up pay-as-you-go billing, admins must activate the service in the Microsoft 365 admin center and have the required roles for the Azure subscription. Once activated, organizations can use an Azure subscription to pay for services based on the number of queries used. Pay-as-you-go services will be available only after billing has been set up. To use the pay-as-you-go billing model, admins require an Azure subscription and resource group. The use of pay-as-you-go to allow unlicensed users to use Agents in SharePoint, will be subject to any internal controls to manage Copilot.

Admins are advised to visit the Microsoft 365 admin portal, activate pay-as-you-go services, and set up billing by providing an Azure subscription, region and resource group. This billing model is expected to be globally available by early February 2024.
