Purview | Insider Risk Management: New pay-as-you-go model for cloud storage apps, cloud services, and Microsoft Fabric
Starting early November 2024, Insider Risk Management indicators for cloud storage apps and services will adopt a pay-as-you-go pricing model. This shift necessitates organizations to link an Azure subscription for billing to keep utilizing these indicators. Insider Risk Management indicators encompassing cloud storage apps (Box, Dropbox, Google Drive), cloud services (AWS, Azure), and Microsoft Fabric (Power BI) will undergo this change from a free Public Preview as communicated in MC716005. The shift is expected to roll out by early November 2024, and billing will depend on the number of user activities processed for these indicators. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management detects suspicious or inadvertent insider risks like data leakage and IP theft. Customers can create policies based on their internal governance and policy requirements, and user-level privacy is enforced through stipulated controls.
For preparation, Microsoft Purview admins with the necessary permissions can enable pay-as-you-go features from the Microsoft Purview portal. Similarly, insider risk admins can opt-in to these indicators via Insider Risk Management settings.
This post enlists the changes and will guide you on how to continue utilizing your cloud storage apps, cloud services, and Microsoft Fabric with the new pay-as-you-go model.
