Azure Active Directory (AAD) and Microsoft (MSA) accounts can be linked to earn Microsoft Rewards points
Microsoft has recently introduced the option to link an Azure Active Directory (AAD) work account with a personal Microsoft account (MSA), allowing users to earn Microsoft Rewards points for Microsoft Bing searches conducted through their browser or Windows search. This feature was enhanced based on user feedback, and it is available to an organization’s employees by default. However, employees have the option to opt-in for account linking, and it will not affect any group policies. Work and personal searches will remain separate, and Microsoft's security and privacy principles for enterprise data will remain in place. No new data will be collected for targeted advertising as a result of the account linking. Account linking will be enabled no earlier than December 11th, 2022, and employees can link their accounts through Microsoft Edge and Bing search. The linked accounts will help in employee productivity by allowing them to stay signed in with their AAD account, and personal Microsoft accounts can earn rewards for searches they already perform. The earned rewards can be redeemed for a variety of rewards, including donations to non-profits. PowerShell can be used to turn off the account linking default, and it must be done by December 11th.
