Microsoft Teams: Roster grouping for in-room participants through Proximity Join for Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams has rolled out a new feature for its Teams Rooms on Windows, where in-room participants can now be grouped under the room node when joining a meeting through Proximity Join. This new feature makes it easier to identify participants who join the meeting in person, by automatically grouping them together under the room node in the roster. The new feature comes with some prerequisites, including specific Bluetooth and XML configuration settings enabled. The rollout is set to begin mid-August 2024 and is expected to complete by the end of August 2024. Organizations can opt to notify users about the change and update relevant documentation as needed. The new feature is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 400702.

This new feature ensures a more organized and efficient way of identifying in-room and online participants in a Teams meeting held via a Teams Room on Windows. Note that the grouping will only work for those who join via Proximity Join.

The post Microsoft Teams: Roster grouping for in-room participants through Proximity Join for Teams Rooms on Windows detailed the changes and features of the new update. This is part of Microsoft's continuous effort to enhance the Teams experience and provide better communication services for its users
