Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: Auto-labeling policies will support “Fingerprint based SIT”

Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: Auto-labeling policies will support “Fingerprint based SIT”

Microsoft Purview | Information Protection is introducing a new feature that will support auto-labeling with "Fingerprint based SIT" for files and emails. This feature will be enabled by default and is expected to start rolling out in late November 2024, completing by mid-December 2024. Admins will be able to configure this feature to automatically label files and emails with sensitive information types. However, it is recommended that admins review and set up the feature before rollout. The change will be available worldwide and applies to GCC, GCC High, and DoD. This rollout requires no action from admins before the specified date, but it is recommended that admins review use cases and configure document fingerprinting. The post also contains links to more information about document fingerprinting and automatically applying a sensitivity label in Microsoft 365.
