Microsoft Teams Admins are in for a treat with the upcoming Click-to-Chat (C2C) feature added to the Teams Admin Center (TAC). It allows private groups chats with a limited set of third-party Teams app publishers. This new attribute will be available as part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 182034, with a standard release rollout beginning from late November and completing by late December 2023.
Through this feature, Teams admins can quickly communicate with app publishers to evaluate and assess whether an app aligns with their business, with regard to data compliance, pricing, and deployment. Teams admins will discover a C2C button in the app card of TAC's manage apps tab. Note that if an admin has disabled external communications, the C2C button also will be disabled. If the admin tries to initiate chat, they will receive a dialog box with an email address to submit their questions outside of Teams.
As an admin, you don't need to take any action if external communications are already enabled. However, if you have disabled external communications in your Teams tenant, consider enabling them to work with ISVs that support this feature.
