Microsoft Word: Copilot will generate an automatic summary when a file opens

Microsoft Word is introducing a new feature that will generate an automatic summary using Copilot when a document is opened. The feature will be globally available from late August to September 2024 and will require a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. The summary, which can be hidden, will appear at the top of the document and users can also open the Copilot chat pane to ask specific questions about the document. This update is part of Roadmap ID 399921 and will be on by default. It is important to note that this feature will only be available to Word users with a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. To prepare for the rollout, Microsoft will update the documentation before the automatic rollout takes place with no admin action required. This announcement is associated with message ID MC871010.
