Improving licensing checks for secondary accounts in the new Outlook for Windows
Microsoft has introduced a change to improve licensing checks for secondary accounts in the new Outlook for Windows. With effect from February 1, 2024, the new Outlook for Windows will support secondary accounts that were earlier licensed with entry-level subscription plans, such as Enterprise E1 or Business Basic. Previously, while these accounts could be added to classic desktop versions of Microsoft 365 apps, they could not be added to the new Outlook for Windows. With the recent change, users can now add secondary accounts with licenses like Business Basic and Enterprise E1, once the Outlook for Windows is licensed and activated by the Primary Account. This change ensures the same user experience and scenarios are supported by both classic and new Outlook for Windows. To prepare for this change, there is no action required at the user's end. This change was rolled out on February 10, 2024, and the complete details can be read in the blog post linked below.
