Microsoft Dender for Cloud Apps: New SaaS Security Initiative in the “Exposure management” experience
Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps introduces its new SaaS Security Initiative, a consolidated capability for effective consumption of SaaS security posture recommendations. The initiative provides a centralized location for all SaaS Security best practices, facilitating efficient management and prioritization of security recommendations by starting with the ones that hold the highest weight. The SaaS Security Initiative serves as the new home page for SSPM (SaaS Security Posture Management), consolidating all best-practice recommendations into 12 measurable metrics. These metrics enable customers to manage and prioritize the large number of security recommendations. To access the Security metrics view, go to Defender for Cloud Apps > Exposure management > Select Initiatives > Select the SaaS security initiative > Select Open initiative page. The Security metrics page displays 12 measurable metrics, prompting customers to work on a metric with a High weight. The new feature will be on by default, and to take full advantage of the SaaS Security Initiative, customers must have a license for Defender for Cloud Apps and enable at least one connector in Defender for Cloud Apps.
The Microsoft SaaS Security Initiative will begin rolling out mid-November 2024 and expects to complete by late November 2024. The rollout will happen automatically with no admin action required before the specified date. The initiative improves SaaS security posture while prioritizing the management of large numbers of security recommendations.
