Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention: Gain policy insights with Microsoft 365 Copilot for Security

In the world of data loss prevention, the Microsoft 365 Copilot for Security has introduced a new feature named "Policy Insights," which helps administrators gain a deeper understanding of DLP policies and their constructs. This enhancement enables admins to analyze whether the policies are effective across locations, detect the presence of sensitive information types throughout their digital estate, notify administrators of violations and educate users while they perform activities they should not, among other things. Admins can obtain these insights on all the policies or selected ones and can use prompts to gain a deeper view of how a policy is configured for their digital landscape to align their data posture regularly. This feature is set to be available in Public Preview from mid-November 2024 with General Availability set for early January 2025, not designed for use by customers using US government clouds.

This feature will equip administrators with a range of different pivots by location, classification, and administrative scopes to gain a deeper understanding of policy constructs and their impact. Overall, the introduction of the Policy Insights feature aims to help admins understand and align DLP policies better, by offering them different views for deeper analysis of policy constructs and impact.
