In the realm of managing tags in Microsoft Teams, there's good news for those seeking greater flexibility. M365 Admin recently announced that teams management settings now include an option to exclude or include guests. Essentially, there is now a fourth option in the settings that reads "Team owners, members and guests". This option is in addition to the existing settings, which include "Microsoft default", "Team owners only", and "Team owners and members".
The rollout of this feature is scheduled for early December 2023, with completion expected by mid-December 2023. To prepare for this change, as a tenant Admin, you can change your tag management settings to your preferred option. If you do not wish for guests to be able to manage tags, no action is necessary.
Overall, this update enables organizations to streamline their tag management process by granting or removing guest access as needed. To make the change, simply sign into Microsoft Teams admin center and navigate to the Teams settings section. From there, select the "Team owners, members and guests" option under the Tagging section for "Who can manage tags".
So, if you're a Teams admin seeking to manage tags in the most efficient and flexible way possible, this new feature is worth exploring.
