Microsoft Teams: Automatic location updates with building details for BYOD rooms and bookable desks
Microsoft Teams is set to roll out automatic location updates with building details for bookable desks and BYOD (bring your own device) rooms. This feature aims to make it easier for users to keep their workplace presence up to date and connect with others in the office. Administrators will need to associate devices with a workspace or room account through the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal to set up bookable desks or BYOD rooms. To update a user's location to a specific building, admins must onboard their buildings and parent the appropriate workspace or room resource account to the buildings. Once enabled, users can opt-in to automatically update their work location to a specific building when they connect to a bookable desk or BYOD room. This feature will be available on an opt-in basis from early December 2024 for Targeted Release users, and early January 2025 for General Availability worldwide.
If your organization uses bookable desks or BYOD rooms, this update will help keep location information up to date and improve user connectivity within the office.
