Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft Teams Meeting Chat will use transcript data when available

Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft Teams Meeting Chat is about to get an upgrade that will improve the clarity of chat-only results. Once the roll-out is complete by early July 2024, Copilot will automatically access transcript data, which had previously been unavailable. With the change, if a transcript is available from a meeting, Copilot will use it as a priority rather than show results from meeting chat, which can cause confusion. To use this feature, users will need a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. The upgrade will begin rolling out worldwide at the end of June 2024. There is no need for any administrative action. Once the upgrade takes place, Copilot will use the transcript of previous meeting chat for recurring meetings until the next one starts. Users will find transcripts for previous instances of a recurring meeting in the calendar invitation. This change will affect all organizations and will be on by default. However, you can prepare by informing users of the forthcoming upgrade and adjusting documentation as required.
