Microsoft Teams: Digital signage on Teams Rooms on Windows

In an effort to enhance the user experience on Teams Rooms on Windows, Microsoft is set to roll out a new feature that allows digital signage to be displayed on front-of-room displays when the devices are not in use. The feature will be managed by admins through the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal, with third-party integrations and web URLs supported as signage sources. However, SharePoint and OneDrive URLs are not supported. The feature is expected to roll out in mid-September 2024 and requires a Teams Rooms Pro license and Teams Rooms on Windows app version 5.2.

With the upcoming digital signage feature, users will be able to view dynamic content on front-of-room displays, including how-to guides, important announcements, company news, upcoming events, and more. Additionally, they will also be able to view relevant information such as room information and the calendar alongside the signage.

If you're an admin overseeing Teams Rooms on Windows, this feature will enable you to enhance the user experience, engage employees, and convey important information more effectively. Further, the integration with third-party digital signage providers such as Appspace and XOGO opens up a wider range of possibilities for displaying content. However, keep in mind that the feature is off by default and requires configuration post-update.
