Changes to Viva Insights metrics and default report pages for leaders

Microsoft Viva Insights is introducing updates to its metrics and report pages, which will affect content and design due to the integration of a new API for better performance. These changes will bring forth new rounding rules for time-based metrics, as well as a shift to a four-week average for metric reports. The rollout begins in late September 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2024. Organizations are advised to review the impact of these changes and update relevant documentation accordingly.

The new changes aim to enhance the reliability and performance of Microsoft Viva Insights by transitioning to a more agile, high-performing API. One can expect a consistent and robust user experience, with access to all reports along with some design and content changes. This change will apply to both default report pages and metric reports. The New hire onboarding report will adhere to current standards by showing data only when the number of new hires meets the minimum group size.

Specific rounding rules will be used to make trends more significant. For durations under 1 hour, rounding is to the nearest 15 minutes, and durations over 1 hour will round to the nearest 30 minutes. Metric reports will provide a four-week average to align with default report time frames. The home page cards will be updated to compare metrics to the previous week.
