Microsoft Outlook: Updated handling of PDFs with Purview Information Protection sensitivity labels for iOS and Android

Microsoft Outlook: Updated handling of PDFs with Purview Information Protection sensitivity labels for iOS and Android

Outlook for iOS and Android is getting an update that prompts users to open PDFs with sensitivity labels in the Microsoft 365 app starting early September 2024, with full rollout by late October. This update is automatic and requires no admin action, but informing users ahead of time is recommended. Users will be prompted to open the PDF file in the Microsoft 365 app when selecting a PDF file protected with Microsoft Purview Information Protection sensitivity labels. Previously, users were presented with a message that the file needed to be opened with a compatible app. This change is on by default and will happen automatically by the specified date. Organizations may want to notify their users and update relevant documentation about this change.
