Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management: Updates to email scoring

Microsoft plans to roll out updates to email scoring for its Purview Insider Risk Management feature. The current email scoring logic counts a single email to multiple recipients multiple times, resulting in an increased risk score and creating noise. The new logic will count a single email to multiple recipients only once, which is also applicable to emails containing multiple unallowed domains or priority content. This update will be available by default, and email insights in Alerts will display the new count and score. The rollout will begin in late November 2024 for Public Preview and early January 2025 for General Availability. Administrators need to review their current configuration to determine the impact of this update, and relevant documentation may need to be updated accordingly. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management helps identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. It enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements with privacy by design.
