Copilot for Microsoft 365: Installed extensions will be auto-enabled to run and will support action workflows
Microsoft 365 Copilot is introducing an update that will auto-enable installed extensions to support action workflows, allowing users to complete workflows directly from Copilot for Microsoft 365. The extensions will now be enabled upon user installation or admin deployment, reducing the friction for users who previously had to enable individual extensions before use. However, users will still be able to disable these individual extensions as needed. This update, associated with Roadmap ID 384848, will begin rolling out in mid-September 2024 and will be completed by mid-December of the same year. It is recommended that organizations manage their extension settings and inform their users beforehand about this change. With this feature update, apps that users have already consented to will have additional capabilities such as creating, updating, and deleting records. Admins will not need to educate users about switching extensions on within Copilot for Microsoft 365 before they start submitting their queries. To prepare for this update, it is recommended that organizations review and manage the apps with deployed extensions in their tenant and update any relevant documentation.
