Microsoft 365 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for web: Enhanced File menu and easier file renaming
Microsoft is bringing an enhanced File menu and file renaming experience to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for web. These updates aim to make file management easier, address user feedback, and provide a clearer autosave indication. With the enhanced File menu, users will be able to create, open, share, export, and manage files more easily. The rollout began in mid-May 2024 and is expected to be completed by early October 2024. The update comes with intuitive and efficient file management that makes it easier to find and use critical commands on the menu. The File menu includes options to quickly navigate to the file location, download files in different formats and move files to different folders. Users can also explore previous versions of the file with File Version History. Renaming files is also made more efficient by selecting the file name in the title bar near the top of the browser window and entering the new file name. All changes will be available by default to users. No admin action is required for the rollout.
